YUVA GARJANA

Ntr to be absent for Yuva Garjana on 5th November

Jr Ntr who is now becoming the most powerful and popular person in NTR family will not attend the Yuva Garjana which will be held on 5th November in Guntur. Earlier it was proposed that the entire Nandamuri family will attend the Yuvagarjana and Balakrishna will officially enter AP State politics on this stage.
The events

NTR Celeb of the Week

Celeb of the Week - Sri N T Rama Rao

Jayammu Nischayammu Raa - Bhayammu Leduraa

A star is born on 28th May 1923. Nobody has an idea that the kid born on that day will change the destiny of telugu people with his films and politics. Neither his real parents Lakshmaiah and Venkatravamma nor his adapted parents Chandramma and Ramayya.

NTR (as he is fondly called) never thought of taking acting as a profession. When he joined AC College, Guntur, he was elected as the vice president for students union wing. He used to act in plays. He acted as "salim' in 'Anarkali'. NTR used to be very particular about his mustache at that time. His did not shave them off for his role of 'Nagamma' in 'Rachamallu Douthyam'. He shot to fame with that role and his fellow students used to call NTR as 'Meesaala Nagamma'.

He got a cinema chance from C Pullayya when he was doing graduation. But NTR preferred studies to films. After graduation NTR joined National Art Theater (NAT) with like-minded co-students (Jaggayya, KVS Sharma, Pundari Kakshayya, Potluri Narayana Rao etc.).

He got a call from LV Prasad when he was doing job as a probationary registrar in Vijayawada. LV Prasad was making a film in 1949 called 'Manadesam' with the premier hero of that time Sri C H Narayana Rao and PadmaSri Nagayya in the direction of Thatineni Prasad. His first dialogue was 'Inthavaadni Inthayyaa Saar'. Incidentally that dialogue applies for his real life too.

NTR acted in 42 historical films. His first historical role was as "Sri Krishna' in 'Sonthavooru' in 1956. He acted as 'Sri krishna' in films like Maya Bazaar, Vinayaka Chaviti, Deepavali, Veerabhimanyu, Danaveerasoora Karna, Srimadvirata Parvam. If we add up all his roles as'Sri Krishna' in hostorical and social films the count mounts to 22.

He acted as 'Ravana' in 'Bhookailas'. It went on to become a bit hit. There by NTR proved that a popular actor (hero material) can also act as a villain and can mesmerize the viewers in the same way. In 1966 he acted in dual role as 'SriKrsihna' and 'Duryodhana' in 'Sri Krishna pandaveeyam'. He also directed this film and there by won the 'Nandi' award by AP Government. After a decade again he directed a film called 'Danaveerasoora Karna' in which he acted in three roles 'Karnudu', 'Sri Krishnudu' and 'Dhuryodhanudu'. In 1979 he produced and directed another film called 'Sri Madvirat Parvam'. He donned five roles (SriKrishnudu, Arjunudu, Bruhannala, Duryodhanudu, Keechakudu) in that film.

In 1959, he acted as Sri Rama in 'Sampurna Ramayanam' (Tamil). Though he acted as SriRama in "Sri Ramanjaneya Yuddam' and 'Sri Rama Pattabhishekam', the film that won laurels was his 'Lavakusa'. Released in 1963 this film went on to run for 75 weeks uninterruptedly. This is a record that is unbroken and will never be broken. He also acted as 'Srinivasudu' and 'Sri Venkateswara' in 'Sri Venkateswara mahatyam'(1960).

After earning enough experience in films, NTR wanted to gift his parents a film. He made his brother (Trivikrama Rao) produce a film and NTR directed it for the first time. It was 'Seetarama Kalyanam'. After watching that film 'Srungeri Peethadhipathulu' sent a commendation letter to NTR praising him as 'Abhinava Rama and Abhinava Ravana'.

Though NTR acted with precision in all the historical roles, he conveniently changed the rules to suit his style. When showing 'Abhaya Hastam', NTR used his left hand as his right hand fingers were not functioning properly due to illness. But according to the tradition he should be showing his right hand. NTR used to jocularly comment that even Rama and Krishna are Leftists by policy.

Though NTR acted in a small role in his first film 'Manadesam, his first film as a hero was 'Palleturi Pilla'. It went on to become a super hit by running for 25 weeks. During that time Vijaya studio selected NTR as their permanent hero. He acted in Vijaya films like Shawkar (directed by LV Prasad), Pathala Bhairavi (directed by KV Reddy), Malleeswari (directed by BN Reddy) and Chandraharam (directed by Kamalakara Kameswara Rao). Pathala Bhairavi was the first Telugu film to complete silver jubilee. Malleswari was the first telugu film to be exhibited in abroad.

NTR started his own production company called NAT along with Trivikrama Rao and produced a film called 'Pichi Pullayya' in 1952 that bombed at box office. In 1954, he produced 'Thodu Dongalu', which won President's Award as the best film. 'Tenali Ramakrishnudu', in which NTR acted as Sri Krishna Devaraya, won national award. Gudigantalu won a Nandi award. His film on dowry issue 'Varakatnam' won the National award and Nandi award. NTR gave story and screenplay for this film apart from directing it. His own film 'Thathamma Kala' won the Nandi award from the Government though it opposes the family planning.

His social films like Adavi Ramudu, Vetagadu, Naya Aadmi(Hindi) and Sampoorna Ramayanam (Tamil) celebrated Golden Jubilee by running for 50 weeks. His films Palleturi Pilla, Maya Bazaar, Gundamma Katha, Sabhash Ramudu, Samsaram, Pelli Chesi Choodu, Daasi, Aggi Ramudu, Jayasimha, Sri Venkateswara Mahatyam, Rakta Sambhandam, Nartana Saala, Pandava Vanavasam, Aada Brathuku, Srikrishnavatharam, Ummadi Kutumbam, Ramu, Kodalu Diddina Kapuram, Desoddarakudu, Devudu Chesina Manushulu, Yamagola, Sardar Paparayudu, Konveeti Simham celebrated Silver Jubilee by running for 25 weeks. This list goes on if we include his 100 days films.

When he acted as shivudu in "Uma Chandi Gowry Shankarula Katha', his son Rama Krishna expired. There after NTR refused to do any 'sivudu' roles. After his son's death, NTR changed his banner's name to 'Ramakrishna - NAT Combines'. On the memory of Rama Krishna he constructed Rama Krishna theaters, Rama Krishna Cine Studios and Rama Krishna Horticulture Studios.

Since NTR entered politics, he could not get any awards like 'Dada Saheb Falke' and 'Raghupathi Venkayya Naidu'. It's sad that NTR could get only one award (Padmasri) from the government.

Though NTR acted in many hostorical roles, he did not touch two characters. They are Narada and Anjaneya. He created a record by acting in 15 films in 1964.

He entered politics later and served Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and he made the word 'Telugu' popular around the world. He is an icon of discipline and self pride

CONTROVERIES ON NTR

Controversies

During 1993, there was immense criticism on him from his own party MLAs that he was giving undue importance to Lakshmi Parvathi. This criticism along with news of his affair with her, forced him to announce that he would marry Lakshmi Parvathi.[15] After he came to power 1994, several party MLAs were upset with her interference in party matters. This lead to a revolt against him which was lead by his own son-in-law Nara Chandrababu Naidu and Duggupati venkateswara rao. It is also rumored that Nara Chandrababu Naidu has forced majority of the MLAs to take back their support towards N.T.R.

NTR PERSONAL LIFE

NTR PERSONAL LIFE

NTR married Basavatarakam in 1942. She died of cancer in 1985. There is a cancer Hospital established in her memory in Hyderabad. NTR remarried in 1993 at the age of 70. NTR had seven sons and four daughters from his first marriage. Prominent among his children are Bhuvaneswari, wife of Nara Chandrababu Naidu and the chairperson of Heritage Foods; and Daggubati Purandeswari, MP and a Minister of State for Human Resources in Manmohan Singh's cabinet; Nandamuri Balakrishna a leading actor in the Telugu film industry; and Nandamuri Harikrishna, an actor turned politician and a member of Rajya Sabha (upper house of India's Parliament). Prominent among NTR's grandchildren are N. Kalyan Ram, N. T. Rama Rao Jr. and Taraka Ratna; all three are actors in Telugu cinema.

N T Rama Rao became very well known for his charitable work during his film career. He died on 18 January 1996 of a heart attack. Often playing a Hindu god in his films, since his death he has been worshipped in some parts of Andhra Pradesh himself as a deity; numerous death shrines have been created in his name.Rama Rao exerted a major, long-lasting, influence over the people of Andhra Pradesh and is celebrated by the people. The NTR University of Health Sciences is named after him.

Second Term

The Telugu Desam Party operations were significantly computerized and a systematic local party structure was built and this resulted in the establishment of a stable second political party that survived his death. Rao introduced the concept of strong states with a strong center in his discussions about state power with Gandhi and ushered in a new era of empowered local governments, within the framework of India.

He suffered a mild stroke and was unable to campaign in the 1989 election, which he lost.

Third Term

N.T. Rama Rao returned to power in 1994 winning 250 seats (Telugu Desam won 216; CPI: 19; CPM: 15) for his party and his allies in a 294 seat Assembly. Congress party won only 26 seats. The BJP which contested 280 seats on its own won just three seats.

NTR POLITIC VIEW2

NTR POLITIC VIEW2

Rama Rao's extensive tour in the Chaitanya Ratham vehicle helped to successfully mobilize people and recruit potential leaders and members for his newly founded party. The Congress Party, then in power, panicked at the response and replaced the Chief Minister Bhavanam Venkataram with a more experienced and seasoned leader, Kotla Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy. Reddy, who was Chief Minister for just over 3 months, could not secure victory for the Congress Party in the ensuing elections in January 1983. The newly formed Telugu Desam Party won with significant margins in all three regions of the State (Coastal Andhra, Rayala Seema, and Telengana), winning over 200 seats in the 294 seat State Assembly against 56 seats by the Congress Party. Rama Rao himself contested elections from two constituencies, Tirupathi in Chittor District and Gudivada in Krishna district, and won both the seats.

On Independence Day, 15 August 1984, NTR was removed from office by the then governor Ramlal. His finance minister, Nadendla Bhaskara Rao, a former Congress man, was made the Chief Minister by the Ramlal. Bhaskar Rao purportedly had the support of majority MLAs (Members of Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh) which was never the case. Rama Rao disputed the claims by Bhaskara Rao and demonstrated his strength by bringing all the MLAs supporting him, which was a majority in the 294 member assembly, to the Raj Bhavan (Governor's Office). Governor Ramlal did not relent and Rama Rao campaigned for restoration of democracy by mobilizing the support of people and various political parties in the country including Janata Party, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Communist Party of India (CPI), Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), and National Conference. During the one month crisis, the MLAs supporting Rama Rao were secured in a secret place to avoid horse-trading. Due to mobilization of several political parties and the people and due to bad press, Indira Gandhi, then Prime Minister and head of Congress Party, unwillingly removed Governor Ramlal and appointed a congress party veteran, Shankar Dayal Sharma, as governor of Andhra Pradesh to pave the way for restoring Rama Rao. Shankar Dayal Sharma removed Bhaskara Rao from power and restored Rama Rao as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in September 1984. He recommended dissolution of the Assembly and called for new elections in the state to ensure the people had a fresh choice to elect their representatives.

In the following month, on 31 October 1984, Indira Gandhi was assassinated. Rajiv Gandhi became Prime Minister in her place. In the ensuing national elections to the Lok Sabha, the Congress party won convincingly all over the country except in Andhra Pradesh where Rama Rao's Telugu Desam party secured a landslide victory. Senior Leaders of Congress party including Brahmananda Reddy, a former Chief Minister, and Vijaya Bhaskara Reddy, a former Chief Minister, lost in their constituencies of Narasarao Pet and Kurnool respectively to the Telugu Desam Party. Telugu Desam became the main opposition party in the Lok Sabha

Rao was the founder of Telugu Desam Party in 1982 and served as Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh. His reason for founding the Telugu Desam Party was based on a historic need to rid the state of the corrupt and inept Congress rule. When he started his political career he was already a very popular actor in the Telugu film industry. Rama Rao was unanimously elected leader of Telugu Dasam Legislature Party on January 8, 1983 with 10 cabinet ministers and five ministers of State He became the 10th Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh and was reelected three times between 1983 and 1994.

Rama Rao campaigning in the 1982 elections in the Chaitanya Ratham vehicleTo promote the Telugu Desam Party, Rama Rao travelled across the state of Andhra Pradesh, crisscrossing all the districts, in his van dubbed "Chaitanya Ratham" (Chaitanyam literally means bringing to life or movement). With his son Hari Krishna as a driver, Rama Rao notched up over 75,000 kilometres during his 1982 campaign, a distinctive sight with the van's yellow party flags and banners and Rao sitting on top of the vehicle hailing the crowds. Rama Rao campaigned for restoring the dignity of the Telugu people and advocated the forming a closer bond between the government and the common people, going into the elections with the slogan, Telugu vari Atma Gauravam, meaning "Telugu people's self-respect.He reflected socialist views in several of his policies in that he believed that state must take care of the people that are below poverty line and everyone must have their basic necessities fulfilled. He campaigned to secure basic necessities such as home, clothes and food for the people and to provide subsidies on clothes and houses to the needy. He was also an advocate of women's rights and worked on a bill to amend inheritance law to provide equal rights for women to inherit ancestral property, enacted later, in 1986.

Entertainer ‘Simha’ bails out Balakrishna ( Telugu Movie Review)
By IANS - Sunday, May 2nd, 2010 8:32 am

Film: ‘Simha’; Cast: Balakrishna, Nayantara, Namita, Sneha Ullal, Aditya Menon, Kota Sreenivasa Rao and others; Director: Boyapati Srinu; Producer: Parachuri Kireeti; Music Director: Chakri; Camera; Wilson and Prasad; Rating: ** 1/2

Actor Balakrishna’s fans can heave a sigh of relief. After nearly six years, the charismatic star bounces back with ‘Simha’, which boasts of enjoyable commercial ingredients that does not look silly or illogical on screen.

In a way, Balakrishna’s fans may well remember his age-old blockbuster films like ‘Lakshmi Narasimha’, ‘Narsimha Naidu’ and many others through ‘Simha’, which may not be a great commercial film, but yet an appealing fare for all classes.

Director Boyapati Srinu’s ‘Simha’ has lot of mass appeal and entertainment quotient to keep the audience happy. Srinu, who had earlier delivered hits like ‘Bhadra’ with Ravi Teja and ‘Tulasi’ with Venkatesh, delivers another strong commercial film without compromising with Balakrishna’s image.

Srinu has added lot of punch in the second half that generates lot of curiosity and thrills. The so-called comedy elements, however, fail to deliver and Balakrishna’s punchy dialogues look ordinary. But suddenly the twists and turns in the second half heighten the interest.

Nandamuri Balakrishna’s much awaited film was released to a hysterical pitch all over the state. The line comes from Nandamuri family that – it is possible only for the Nandamuris to break or shake the records. After a gap of a decade, NBK has certainly proved that the adage is applicable to him.

Everybody thought that the film might a combination of the previous films of Balakrishna – Lakshmi Narasimha and Narasimha Naidu. But, after watching the film, the title has a close link with the story and screenplay itself. The dialogues of Balakrishna are so powerful that any lacuna on the part of the film’s technicalities would slip into the oblivion. His dare and dash in successfully handling the dual shades of his characterization would bring him big kudos.

College professor Sivannarayana (Balakrishna) would risk anything in his career to trample the injustice. His colleague (Namitha) falls in love with him. Simultaneously, his student Janaki (Sneha Ullal) too falls to the dare of her professor. A flash back soon reveals that she joins the college just to escape from the villains. At one juncture, Sivannarayana saves Janaki from the villains and he comes to know about one shaking truth. The enemy of both his father and that of Janaki’s is one and the same. Moreover, Janaki is none other than the daughter of his uncle. Who is the villain? What happened thirty years ago? These questions form the crux.

NBK played dual roles as father and son. However, ageing is clearly visible during close-up shots. Sneha Ullal is okay for looks but she still needs to improve her acting skills. Namitha played another glamorous role in the film. But she appeared quite bulky despite showing her oomph. KR Vijaya was truly grand in grandmother’s role and she lived in the character and did complete justice to it. Aditya Menon and Malayalam artiste Saikumar showed good screen presence. Rahman is okay as Balakrishna’s brother-in-law. Nayanatara, though had a very small role in the film, enlivened the mood in the theatres. Comedy by Krishna Bhagawan, Ali, Venumadhav is just average.

Simha is out and out a formulaic movie. The urge of director Boyapati Seenu can be clearly felt in the theatre when he showed Balakrishna in an extraordinary manner. The goal of both the hero and the director seemed to be one – to capture the elusive hit. Boyapati succeeded in giving the exact material for the fans of Balakrishna, while giving the same pinch to all the lovers of mass films. Though the film begins on a regular note akin to the previous films of Balakrishna, the trend soon changes and would take a twist in the middle.

The presentation of nativity and time factor that of thirty years ago was superb in the flashback episode. The background score is the lifeline of the music. Coming to the violence factor, the audience is given to a feel that the quantum of bloodshed could have been minimized. The stunts are electrifying. Editing is crisp. However, the comedy department lagged behind in the film, which at the same time is silhouetted with the powerful presence of the hero.

However, the comedy department lagged behind in the film, which at the same time is silhouetted with the powerful presence of the hero.

simha rev

One knows what to expect from a Balakrishna film and Simha is a perfect example of that: a true mainstream entertainer catering to the masses with high-voltage action, overdose of violence and the mandatory songs.

Balayya is back in full form bashing away the baddies as if it's child's play in this Telugu movie. Director Boyapati Seenu has ensured that Balayya's fans have their share of enjoyment.

The story goes like this: Sriman Narayana (Balakrishna) is a teacher (though one hardly sees him teaching) at a college where everyone is terrified of him. He is one of those guys who can't stand evil deeds, women being treated badly and injustice. If he's annoyed by anything, he turns beastly and beats up people.

His grandmother (K R Vijaya) is fed up of looking for matches for him and warns him not to indulge in violence to help people. But Narayana thinks otherwise. An English lecturer (Namita) starts liking him. A Sanskrit lecturer (Venu Madhav) loves Namitha and this is one of the comedy tracks in the film (the other being Ali's and Brahmanandam).

Janaki (Sneha Ullal [ Images ]) enters Balayya's life and then the story takes a turn in the second half. It rewinds to the past which has a bearing on the present. Both Janaki and Sriman Narayana's lives are linked. The rest of the film is more or a less a revenge drama.

The first half of Simha is lighter to some extent, with some humour, romance and entertainment as compared to the second half which is violent.

The director has churned out the usual story with the regular staples. At times, the logic in the screenplay goes for a toss.

But it's the large doses of violence and even some of the dialogues (which accentuate the violence bit) which are hard to digest. It's excruciating to watch the blood and gore and one wonders whether the Censor Board slept through the scenes.

Balakrishna has put in a restrained performance. Though his character is supposed to roar at times, he seems subdued most of the time. But he's given plenty to be pleased about as it is his show all the way.

The heroines Nayantara [ Images ] (who doesn't have much of screen space), Namita and Sneha Ullal are merely add-ons to provide glamour to the essentially Balakrishna fare. A plump Namita with her rather appalling dresses does not look good while Nayantara looks grand in ethnic wear. Sneha Ullal looks pretty but rather wooden.

Overall Simha is a typical Balakrishna film which only his fans can cheer about!

Nandumuri Bala Krishna, sweetly called as Balayya by his fans is the son Late NT Rama Rao. Bala Krishna has got his own style of action in Telugu film industry. SIMHA news

News about 'Simha'
PRAVEEN [Thursday, December 24, 2009]

United Movies' film with Nandamuri Balakrishna in the lead, Simha is currently being canned in Hyderabad in a specially constructed temple set. The film has Nayanatara, Sneha Ullal and Namitha as female leads. It is an interesting combination since Balayya is acting with three heroines in one film after a long time.

Boyapati Srinu is directing the movie. According to Srinu, the body language and dialogue of Balakrishna will be distinct and it will impress upon the audience, especially among the actor's fans to no end. The director who carved distinct characters for top heroes Venkatesh, in Tulasi, in the past, is sure that his character will be very much liked by the fans.

"The film tells the story of a courageous man. The traits of the character will be liked by one and all," states Boyapati. In a temple set specially erected in Hyderabad, the film is being shot with Balakrishna and other key actors.

KR Vijaya, Kota Srinivasa Rao, Aditya Menon and Shravan are playing other roles. Malayalam actor Sai Kumar is playing an interesting role. Brahmanandam, Jeeva, Ali and others will be seen in comic roles.

Chakri is composing the music. Parachuri Kiriti is the producer.
